Private Tutoring

The best way to gain dance skills is through one-on-one practice time with your teacher. Private tutoring is available upon request (additional cost) for registered group classes and solo/duet/trio/group performance pieces or competition pieces.

Creative Movement and Pre-Classes

Creative Movement
A dynamic environment where children learn the fundamentals: rhythm & counting; movement & shape; self-expression through fun and games. For dancers without previous experience. This class leads to dance movement or other introductory classes (to the discretion of teachers).

Pre-Classes
These classes are designed to follow CM and build on style-specific skill for ballet, tap, and jazz. Pre-classes are prerequisites to most styles including musical theatre, acrobatics, step dance, etc. Pre-classes are foundationally important for the correct learning and execution of dance movements.

Just the Boys
A hiphop, breakdance class dedicated to the boys.

Ballet

Pre-Ballet
This introductory level emphasizes the development of basic ballet skills. This class provides a structured & disciplined environment, in keeping with traditional ballet, and promotes self-esteem and creativity. Safe and correct movement is emphasized. This class is highly recommended for everyone who has completed CM.

Ballet I
Continued emphasis on previous skills as well as introduces new ones using the barre, centre, and progressions. This class also facilitates understanding ballet through vocabulary and translation. Emphasis is on safety and correct movement.

Youth Ballet
Recommended for those ballet students 14+ to continue technical ballet training. Students must be enrolled in order to do youth pointe. Our highly skilled youth ballet instructor will address each participant individually so as to offer specific corrections that will benefit the dancer.

Youth Pointe
Offered for any student in ballet that is continuing with pointe. This class emphasizes foot & ankle strength through stretching & strengthening exercises and technique through progressive exercises. Style is taught through routines and choreography. Students must be at least 13+ with at least 5 years of ballet experience, and have to have been properly fitted for pointe shoes.

Tap

This introductory class teaches rhythm and counting through specific sounds made by the feet. Coordination of arms & feet is emphasized. This class is perfect to make for a well-rounded dancer.

Jazz

Jazz I
This introductory class offers technique and precision through urban jazz while promoting stylistic development through street jazz. This class is perfect for anyone who has completed DM.

Celtic Step Dance

Traditional solo dance performed in a variety of styles in the British Isles, Nova Scotia, and the US. All forms are characterized by deft, complicated footwork usually performed in a tightly restricted floor area. Many forms are percussive, the sound being produced by a range of hard shoes, such as wooden clogs, or shoes with hard leather soles or metal tap shoes. In this class, tap shoes are ideal.

Adaptive Dance

This class is available for demonstration in schools, classrooms, camps, etcetera. Please contact us to have our Adaptive Dance class teachers visit you.
These classes partner an experienced dancer with an interest in helping dancers with challenges to develop a love and an appreciation for dance.

Irish

Irish I– soft shoe
Soft shoes introduce students to this traditional style of dance. It is a great cardio activity and challenges the feet with quick steps.

Irish II– soft shoe
This class emphasizes learning through progressive ‘drills’ and focuses on technique in soft shoe instruction in learning reels, jigs, and slip jigs. This class is necessary in order to continue with hard shoe.

Highland

Highland Beginner
This class is an introduction to Highland dancing from STDA.  It introduces rhythm, musicality, posture, positioning, and basic movements to traditional Highland dances. It provides a structured and technical environment while maintaining a high energy level. No experience required. This class would focus on Primary - Beginner Level Dancing.

Highland Advanced
This class is for those who have either completed at least one year of Beginner Highland or have had previous Highland training (this class is STDA although students may have had previous BATD training). It focuses on the technique of previously learned basic movements and introduces more advanced traditional dances and choreographies

Music Theatre

Open to Ages 5+. This class is allotted more time due to the combined ages of participants. Offered in 2 parts: 30mins for ages 5-7 personal time with instructors; then 45mins all participants work on performance piece. Ages 5-8 or new to MT must register for both MT classes. Ages 8+ option to register for both MT classes or only MT All (45mins). Instruction is given in both dance & voice and emphasizes breath while coordinating dance movements. Recommended experience in any introductory level class.

Acrobatics

Many movements in Acro are partner centric and therefore ages & skill levels can be combined. Open to ages 5+. This class is allotted more time due to the combined ages of participants and the complexity of movements involved. This class teaches basic rhythmic gymnastic movements for new dancers and continues to build skills for experienced dancers. Students will learn individual, partnered, and group movements. Emphasis is on safety and prevention of injury. Open to students who have completed CM or any introductory level of dance.

Contemporary

Both Modern & Contemporary styles introduce movements from the centre of the body. This class encourages stylistic and technical development and is perfect for those also studying any other style of dance

Youth HipHop

This class content & music is age-appropriate. Stylistic performance will be reinforced with emphasis on technical dance through street jazz.
