Courta is from Guelph, ON she has loved dance since she began at age 5. She has studied and competed in various disciplines including tap, ballet & pointe, jazz, modern, lyrical, ballroom, etc. Courta completed exams through the Society of Russian Ballet and completed a Bachelor of Kinesiology (’05) and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (’09) at Acadia University while creating and coordinating ADCCommunity. She also assisted in creating Dance Acadia’s competitive team, and helped develop the Acadia Dance Collective. She has created programs for the AVRSB and Town of Wolfville in addition to instructing courses with Acadia’s School of Music. Courta recently worked as a Rehabilitative Movement Therapist in Guelph where she presented weekly segments on Rogers TV’s Healthy Living. She teaches dance in a variety of settings and loves sharing the gift of dance in schools and with her community.
Stephanie is completing a double major in Physics and Math. Dance has been an integral part of her life since age 3. She has completed several Russian Syllabus Ballet exams (SRB), numerous CDTA Jazz & Tap exams, and also studies pointe, hiphop, and modern. Stephanie began instructing dance classes at Maritime Dance Academy in 2005 and loves working with children. This will be her fourth year with ADCC as a teacher and second as Programme Coordinator. She is very excited to continue sharing her love of dance with ADCC!
Tyler has been dancing for 5 years in Hip Hop, musical theatre, contemporary, and jazz. He is a theatre major in performance at Acadia University. Tyler has taught dance classes for special needs children at Dartmouth high and is really excited to take this next step at ADCComunity.
Jessica is an Environmental Science student from Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia. She started dancing at age 4 and studied many dance styles such as ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, modern, and hip hop. Throughout her years developing as a dancer she has also completed exams through the Russian Syllabus and the Canadian Dance Teacher’s Association. She started teaching in 2007 at Maritime Dance Academy where she taught ballet, tap, jazz and hip-hop. Jessica has a love for teaching and children. She is very excited not only to continue teaching but to also be a part of ADCC!
Emma is a Political Science student from Bridgewater, NS. She has been dancing since age 3 and studied ballet, pointe, tap, hip-hop, jazz, modern, contemporary, and flamenco. Emma has completed C.D.T.A exams in ballet and tap, and attended a number of workshops and summer intensives. Emma was a member of the Nova Dance Studio Competitive Dance Team, successfully competing throughout Atlantic Canada. She has been teaching throughout the South Shore and was delighted to join the staff of ADCC in 2011. Emma loves working with children and looks forward to another great year of dance!
Nina is a Nutrition & Dietetics student from Fall River, NS. She has been dancing since age 3, studying various disciplines including ballet, tap, jazz, modern and pointe. Nina has completed several CDTA Jazz & Tap exams and Russian Syllabus Ballet exams. She began teaching in 2006 at Maritime Dance Academy. Nina loves working with children and is very excited about teaching with ADCC!
Kelsey is a BSc. Nutrition student from Pickering, ON. She began Highland dance at age 6 and has danced competitively since age 8. She has danced in competitions throughout Canada, including the Canadian Championships. Kelsey has completed her BATD exams for all levels and is a certified associate instructor for Highland dance. She has been teaching at the Colleen Rintamaki School of Dance and will receive her full teacher certification in 2012.
Celine is a Physics student from Moncton, NB. She began training in ballet at age 4 with DancEast and soon after began studying disciplines including jazz, tap, hip-hop, modern, lyrical, pointe, and character. Celine learned some break dancing, traditional west African dance, and Flamenco through various workshops. Celine is looking forward to teaching both with Acadia’s dance club and with ADCC students once again this year.
