Enrollment:
All students must complete a Registration Form to be kept by the teacher incase of emergency. Note that most correspondence will be made through email. It is the responsibility of parents/students to ensure you’re receiving correspondence from
dance@ADCCommunity.com.

Enrollment at ADCCommunity involves committing to the following:

Schedule:
Every attempt will be made to adhere to existing schedule but Programme Coordinator reserves the right to consolidate or cancel classes at any time and for any reason. Students enrolled in cancelled classes can change classes or else be refunded to the discretion of the Programme Coordinator. Deposits are non-refundable.

Personal Belongings & Safety:
Please label all belongings.  If you have lost something, please contact the Programme Coordinator (PC). Found articles will be held by PC. ADCC and all of its agents, staff, and representatives cannot be held responsible for any liability, damages, losses or personal injury arising on the premises.

Payment:
Payment can be made by cash, cheque, or money order payable to ADCCommunity. Upon registration, a $30 minimum and non-refundable deposit is required (included as part of full fees) per class, per participant for a place to be held in a particular class. This deposit MUST be received in full upon registration (or as near after as possible AND in order to participate in ANY classes at ADCC. Remaining balance on fees is due at your 3d class or at date specified by PC unless otherwise arranged. If an alternative payment plan is desirable, please discuss with PC. Post-dated cheques will be required if payment not made in full upon registration or at 3d class. Refunds available upon request but are not available after 3 weeks of classes in Term 1. Written notice (email) is required to withdraw from a class and to request a refund. Refunds will not be given if a student elects not to participate in activities such as the Recital. Students not participating in the Recital are not responsible for costume fees. Refunds are not given for missed classes or any cancelled classes. Cancelled classes will be rescheduled by PC and dancers notified by email. Any NSF cheques returned will be billed $20 in addition to the amount of the cheque. Receipts are only available after full payment for all annum fees have been received and will automatically be generated (no need to request). Costume payment is due at a specific date and once billing is complete and costumes received by PC, Invoices will be emailed to students. Costume fees must be paid by the start of Dress Rehearsal or a dancer is not permitted to participate (and a student cannot participate in Recital unless he/she participates in Dress Rehearsal). Discounts are applied automatically to help families reduce the cost of having multiple children participate in multiple classes. PC reserves the right to apply discounts, which can only be awarded to accounts in good standing.

Accounts unpaid after April 1, 2012 will be subject to monthly penalty fee of $5.00 for every month the account remains unpaid

Attire:
Dress in clothes that are comfortable and easy to move in. Avoid pants (as correction is difficult) that aren’t spandex/lycra. For Ballet, students must wear a body suit and tights (tutus/skirts are acceptable - please check with YOUR teacher); Students will be asked to remove any baggy clothing after warm-up. Secure hair out of the face unless otherwise specified by teacher. No jewellery or clothing with offensive/inappropriate content.

Shoes:
Footwear that is discipline-appropriate is required for all class but CM where students may wear bare feet or socks with rubber bottoms. For Jazz avoid “boots”. Irish: White socks & Irish shoes. Highland: leather highland shoes. Acro: bare feet.

Note:Absolutely no gum, jewellery (medic-alert bracelets acceptable), or clothing with offensive subject matter. Failure to meet these expectations will result in a student not being able to participate.

Dancewear & Re-sale
Dancewear is available for purchase at our on-going re-sale. Simply add a name & price and leave dancewear with PC. ADCC strongly encourages our students to utilize this service. For new shoe orders and to be fitted for new shoes, please see PC or your teacher before the start of classes or immediately thereafter.

Code of Conduct:
Students are expected to behave appropriately in order to maintain a positive & effective dancing environment:

  • Be respectful (of yourself, of others, and of the facility)
  • Use in-door voices
  • No outside footwear in the dance room
  • There is no use of the word "can't" (or any variation)
  • HAVE FUN!

When behaviour is inappropriate such that it is disturbing the positive atmosphere of the class, a student will be addressed twice. If behaviour issues persist, a parent will be notified.

Missed Classes, Attendance, Inclement Weather, & Extra Help:
ADCCommunity cannot accommodate students who miss class due to illness or otherwise. Please report all illnesses and absences before the start of class by phone. Attendance in Term 2 requires a special commitment because choreographed dances are taught for performances – a Recital Commitment Form outlines specific dates for dress rehearsal, recital, and ensures you know your responsibilities in terms of costume payments, attendance, etc. In the event of inclement weather, please call to hear answering machine notices and check email before traveling to the studio. If a teacher is ill and a substitute cannot be found, the class will be rescheduled or extra time will be added to remaining classes. Cancelled classes will be rescheduled by PC. Students are strongly encouraged to attend make-up classes but ADCC arranges make-up classes based on availability of studio and teacher, not individual students. Extra help is available at any time and students are encouraged to make use of this service. Students must arrange individual lessons or extra help with the PC. Students can be billed for extra lessons (with consent to bill).

Participation Opportunities & Community Initiative:
Some classes may be asked to present dances (Showcase or Recital dances) at community events. Selecting the classes depends on the event, age-appropriateness, and the audience. Not all classes will be asked; Participation is voluntary and strongly encouraged.

Holiday Celebration:
At the end of Term 1, ADCC staff coordinates a party for teachers, students, and immediate family. Details available by email.

Recital Information & Recital Commitment Form:
To conclude the dance season, there is an annual recital. Participation in voluntary but is strongly encouraged as it is an opportunity to present the piece(s) students have prepared over the season. In order to participate in the annual Recital, students must not miss more than 2 classes per term without scheduling extra help (students will be billed for this). Missed classes may not be consecutive. Students participating in the Recital must attend the Dress Rehearsal. Costume fees must be paid in full at the start of Dress Rehearsal in order to participate. Failure to meet these criteria means that the student will not be able to participate in the recital (no refunds will be given; costume must be paid for). In order to participate in the Recital, students must fill out a Recital Commitment Form. ADCC prints only so many advanced tickets for recital. These advanced tickets are available the month prior to recital for a cost of $10 each (children under 4 are free). Advanced tickets are only available while they last and/or up until Dress Rehearsal, after which audience members can pay for entry at the door for a cost of $12. ADCC will NOT hold tickets nor can we provide $10 tickets at the door. Individuals are responsible for securing tickets well before Dress Rehearsal, but Dress Rehearsal is the last day that ADCC will sell advanced tickets (if there are still advanced tickets available then).

Costumes:
The costs of some pieces are covered by ADCC and therefore must be returned at the Recital. Pieces not returned will be billed to the student. Students retain costumes if fees paid for by students. We aim to keep costumes under $100 per costume.

Dance-A-Thon:
ADCC scheduled an annual danc-a-thon to help students earn funds for their costume fees. Our staff volunteers their time such that any monies raised by students goes directly toward a student’s costume fees. Community is welcome to participate (friends, siblings, etc.) but are asked to pay a $10 fee (no fundraising required) that goes to ADCC. Dance-A-Thon monies will NOT be accepted for a student without an accompanying Pledge Form (given by our staff near Dance-A-Thon time). Should a student not be able to participate in the actual dance-a-thon, he/she can still remit monies raised for his/her costume(s).

Journals:
Our programme seeks to offer a well-rounded dance education. Practice is a very key component of (motor) skills acquisition and our students are supplied one Dance Practice Journal annually (if journals from previous years exist, please use it). In these journals, students are encouraged to keep choreography, specific homework/practice steps assigned by the instructor, notes on their practice schedule, and any questions that arise. Instructors verify these journals weekly in order to address questions and problems as well as to provide practice guidance. Journaling has also shown to be an effective means of instilling accountability and responsibility for practice and skills building. Parents are encouraged to participate in helping their child(ren) use their Dance Practice Journal.

Creative Rights:
At ADCC, we take creative property rights seriously. Any works created by ADCC staff & members is the creative property of ADCC and it’s contributing member. Students and third parties are not permitted to use ADCC choreography (written or otherwise), edited music, films or videos for distribution or for on-line posting without the written permission of ADCC Programme Coordinator or Programme Consultant. Failure to meet this standard will result in the automatic removal of a family from ADCC classes.
